Healthy aging can be attributed to diet, an active lifestyle, social networks, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Many people refer to the “Blue Zones” where there are more centanarians (100+years old) for a template of ideal lifestyle choices.

Longevity has many aspects but activity is one of the best prdictors of longevity and healthspan. Staying active and maintaining a healthy weight are crucial. Many times activity can be walking, biking, or similar activities that maintain lean muscle and maintain functionality. Muscle maintenance is going to ensure glucose usage and creates a storage area for nutrients and vitamins that will continually have a synergystic effect in homeostasis. Muscles are initally sore from damage during intense exercise, but over time those mhave uscles help with decreasing systemic inflamation and increasing effecient transport of nutrients to other parts of the body.

Whole foods are important to maintain a healthy weight and body composition. Eating food that will create good building block of proteins and amino acids to rebuild and replace damaged tissues. Processed foods like cookies, crackers and soda or energy drinks have additives that increase inflamation and are easily digestable to spike blood sugar levels. Soda and energy drinks that contain “diet” ingredients trick the body into thinking it is getting sugar , and when it doesn’t it will cause metabolic dysregulations due to the fake sugar, toxic additives for colors and flavor. You truly are what you eat! If you are eating chips and soda that is what your body has a building blocks to build itself and repair, but if your eating wholesome foods that love your body back and decrease inflamation you have better health outcomes.
